Has Mahendra Singh Dhoni breached ambush marketing clause?

India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has attracted the eyeballs that he would rather not. His recent endorsement of an electronic product seems to have caused a flutter that he could have done well without.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has dashed off a letter pointing out that a recent commercial Dhoni had featured in could be in breach of its ambush marketing laws.

According to sources, the ICC has written to chief executives of all the national boards reminding them of the need for strict adherence to the ambush marketing clause after the publication of the Dhoni’s commercial in a leading national daily.

The exact content of the letter was not known but the Board of Control for Cricket in India is believed to have been told that the Dhoni commercial constituted breach.

BCCI secretary N Srinivasan could not be immediately reached for comment but a Board official said the Indian players would be cautioned to ensure that
such things do not recur. So far, no instruction seems to have gone to the Indian skipper.

Team manager Ranjib Biswal has denied receiving any instruction from the BCCI. “We’re not aware of any thing,” Biswal said. Team India reached Chennai on Monday evening. In the advertisement, Dhoni was seen
endorsing a product that is a competition to an official sponsor of the World Cup.

As per the ambush marketing rules, that is not permitted from seven days prior to the start of the championship.

But Dhoni’s managers claim that all things were kept in mind before the shoot was done. “We have paid attention to every minute detail in the ICC guidelines. The colour of Dhoni’s clothing was changed and a re-shoot was done to ensure that no clause was breached,” said a manager of India captain.

When contacted, an ICC spokesman declined comment on the issue. Dhoni had held a long meeting with the top brass of the BCCI recently on the issues of commercials and endorsements. The India skipper was on teleconference with the BCCI officials when four India players, including Sachin Tendulkar, called on them in Mumbai on February 4.

However, sources say the discussion at the meeting was more on the players’ endorsements of their Indian Premier League (IPL) teams rather than on the World Cup related issues. “The meeting was not about these ambush marketing clauses surely. The discussion was on something else,” said a Board source.

Super Bowl Travel Packages

So you want to know who's going to win Super Bowl XLV, eh?

Well, before we know who's going to win it all... we have to know who's going first.

The big issue is that we haven't even started playing a down of football but that doesn't mean that we can't start talking about who has a shot at making it to the big dance.

In the battle between the AFC vs. the NFC, there's a number of good teams on both sides but only one gets to play for a championship and determining who that team is, is always a difficult task, especially so early in the year. However, there are a few teams that are sure to have the greatest chance at making it all the way.

To find out who they are, read-on.

AFC

Indianapolis Colts - The NFL's good boy's are always good picks too! The Colts are the darling's of the NFL but don't mistake their goodness for weakness - Indianapolis will be tough. Even with Tony Dungy out as the head coach, the Colts still made it to the Super Bowl last year.

San Diego Chargers - In spite of a passionate yet aging and struggling Ladainian Tomlinson out, head coach Norv Turner says that this year's Chargers might be the best team that he's ever coached. His optimism is infectious so we'll agree with him.

Baltimore Ravens - Vegas has been good to Baltimore, predicting the Ravens as low-risk and high-powered for gamblers - we tend to agree. Baltimore has always been rock solid on defense and you know what they say about defenses.

New England Patriots - Can you ever count out the Pats given all they have done in this decade? New England won the East in 2009 and we don't see that changing any time soon.

NFC

New Orleans Saints - A lot of analysts are counting out the Saints this year, predicting a Sophomore slump after riding the high of an emotional run in last year's campaign. In light of that, we can't imagine not including a team with such fire power in the conversation.

Dallas Cowboys - Super Bowl XLV is coming to Dallas in 2011 and the Cowboys have a real shot at becoming the first team to play a Super Bowl in their home stadium. With a star-studded program and a newly focused QB, the big D could stand for something else - dangerous! Fans wanting to catch a glimpse of the greatest show on turf should grab a Dallas Cowboys Travel Package while they're available.

Green Bay Packers - It's hard to bet against a team like Green Bay. With the exodus of Brett Favre and the emergence of a QB named Aaron Rodgers - football fans nationwide weren't sure of what to think about them. In the last several years under Rodgers lead, the Packers have looked more explosive than ever.

Minnesota Vikings - Speaking of Brett Favre, after destroying the Cowboys in last season's playoffs it's impossible to write off the Vikings just yet. Last year saw an offense that made plays and a relentless defense that just wouldn't quit. The success of this team is dependent on whether or not Favre returns as its quarterback.

So, who of these great teams will have the best shot at making it?

I see it as a Dallas vs. San Diego match up in Super Bowl XLV. Dallas will have to survive a treacherous schedule, one of the toughest in the league and if they make it all the way to the Super Bowl, they will have earned it. The Chargers dropped LT and are actually claiming to be stronger than ever, this makes them dangerous.

We'll reserve final predictions for a later date but it would sure be tough to bet against the Cowboys at home, wouldn't it?

Over 100,000 fans are going to cram Cowboys Stadium on February 6, 2011. Will you be one of them?

Purchase a Super Bowl Travel Package from Cowboys Packages today and we'll get you set up for the ULTIMATE Super Bowl weekend experience.

Ten best Super Bowl commercials ever

Every year, millions and millions of people tune in to the Super Bowl. While the game is the main attraction, Super Bowl commercials have earned their place as part of the tradition. With the high cost of Super Bowl advertisements, companies reserve their best ads for the Super Bowl. Many people value the commercials just as much as the game. Over the years, the Super Bowl has produced many classic ads. Here's a look at the ten best Super Bowl commercials of all time.

Coca-Cola - "Mean Joe Greene" - 1980

This commercial has been parodied countless times. In the ad, the Steelers defensive lineman is offered a Coke by a boy as he enters the locker room. After Greene takes a long sip, the boy starts to walk away with a sad look. Before he leaves, Joe shouts to the kid and tosses him his jersey. This commercial perfectly capitalized on the admiration that children have for professional athletes. Though this commercial originally aired during the 1979 season, it still made an appearance during the big game in 1980. That cements its legacy on this list.

AdChoices
Apple - "1984" - 1984

This iconic ad parodied the George Orwell book "1984." In it, a jogger tosses a sledgehammer through a personal computer, represented as Big Brother here. The ad then mentions the release of Apple's MacIntosh, telling viewers that the actual 1984 won't be anything like the book. By today's standards, this ad wouldn't be all that popular. However, it was iconic at the time and is often pointed to as the catalyst behind the rise in Super Bowl commercials.

McDonald's - "The Showdown" - 1993

What could be better than two of the best NBA players playing a game of HORSE? With a Big Mac on the line, Michael Jordan and Larry Bird battle it out in a hoops contest. As the shots become more elaborate, each player calls what he will do, ending each line with the phrase "nothing but net." The commercials shows them shooting over rafters, off the floor, and eventually over buildings. Few commercials have a better rewatchability factor.

Budweiser - "Frogs" - 1995

This commercial is brilliant in its simplicity. Three frogs sit on lily pads making different noises. As the frogs realize that each of their sounds is a syllable of Budweiser, they put it together and happily recite the word over and over again. Budweiser capitalized off the popularity of this commercial many times, including adding lizards to the mix.

Pepsi - "Diner" - 1995

A pair of deliverymen sit together in a diner. One works for Pepsi, and the other works for Coca-Cola. The two become fast friends, showing pictures of their families and listening to the jukebox. The Pepsi man then takes a sip of Coke and has a laugh. The Coke man then sips the Pepsi, but refuses to give it back. This was another commercial that was funny in its subtlety.

Budweiser - "Clydesdales Football" - 1996

In this commercial, the Budweiser Clydesdales divide themselves in to two teams for a football game. After one side kicks an extra point, an amazed viewer asks the guy next to him if the horses usually do that. In a deadpan manner, the man responds "Nah, they usually go for two." This remains one of the best Budweiser commercials ever made.

Monster - "When I Grow Up" - 1999

This ad parodies the ambitions of kids. Instead of aiming to be astronauts or football players, the kids in the ad express their desire for mind numbing careers in middle management. It was a smart commercial that got its strong point across in a funny way.

Reebook - "Terry Tate" - 2003

This commercial led to several repeats, but the original concept was still the best. In the advertisement, a company hires an 'office linebacker' to inspire bored employees by tackling them. While it was funny enough watching Terry tackle people as he yelled about TPS reports, the commercial also took solid jabs at the boredom of office jobs.

Bud Light - "Hitchhiker" - 2007

Bud Light has produced many funny Super Bowl commercials, but I still love this one. The ad shows a man and his girlfriend driving down the road. Against her wishes, he stops to pick up a very suspicious looking hitchhiker carrying an axe. Of course, he's also got a case of Bud Light, making the driver happy to pick him up. Later, he picks up a chainsaw wielding hitchhiker who also has a case of Bud Light, much to the chagrin of the axe man.

Snickers - "Betty White" - 2010

In this commercial, we see Betty White playing a rough game of touch football. As we see her struggle, a teammate says 'Come on, you're playing like Betty White out there." White responds with an insult back. After that, a girl offers White a Snickers bar, and we see the man who is playing in reality. The best part is the end, in which ageless actor Abe Vigoda takes a sack.

Indianapolis Colts Odds to Win Super Bowl 2011

Indianapolis Colts Odds to Win Super Bowl 2011: The Indianapolis Colts [-2.5] will prepare once again for a playoff match-up against the NFL Betting Odds underdog New York Jets [+2.5] for Saturday night’s wild card game from Lucas Oil Stadium.

Indianapolis has reached the postseason for the ninth straight time with quarterback-star Peyton Manning’s help, and have now tied the Cowboys’ record, which Dallas achieved during 1975-1983.

Although Manning had a tough time in November, throwing 11 interceptions in three games, the veteran is looking like his usual self again. In the Colts past four games, Manning has had nine touchdown passes and only two interceptions. Dealing with a great number of injuries, mostly to his key playmakers made leading the Colts that much more difficult for Manning, having to carry-on an even bigger load of the offense.

On Sunday, the Colts defeated the Tennessee Titans 23-20, and the Indianapolis defense limited Chris Johnson to 39 yards rushing. Manning threw two touchdown passes and earned a new mark for completions in a season with 450. Mighty Manning also threw his 398th and 399th career touchdown passes, just one away from reaching Brett Favre and Dan Marino.

The Colts have become the third team since 2000 to have lost a Super Bowl and come back the following season to make it to the playoffs. Indianapolis has definitely shown perseverance this year, and defensive end Dwight Freeney is not surprised by his team’s determination. Currently, the Indianapolis Colts possess just about average chances of winning Super Bowl 2011 at +1400 ML.

"I think it shows the resolve of this team and our fight," said. "It doesn't matter if we're 6-6 and we have to win our last four, we have to do it. If we have to win the last seven, we'll try to do it. That's just kind of what we are and we've been that for a while."

Super Bowl Odds: Who's Likely To Play In Dallas For Super Bowl XLV

The Dallas Cowboys aren't in the playoffs this year - but their home stadium will be the site of Super Bowl XLV. Sadly, we already know that the Black Eyed Peas will be there to perform at the halftime show. Bodog has the latest and greatest odds for each team to reach and win the Super Bowl.

It shouldn't come as a surprise that the Patriots are the favorites to win Super Bowl XLV. The odds on the Pats winning the Super Bowl is a nifty 2/1. The Falcons and Steelers are both 11/2. It's also not terribly surprising that the 7-9 Seahawks have the worst odds - sitting comfortably at 100/1 odds to win the Super Bowl. The Chiefs don't have the best odds either, sitting at 35/1 despite leading the NFL in rushing, averaging over 164 yards per game on the ground.

If you're looking for odds on Super Bowl pairings, not surprisingly, a New England v. Atlanta Super Bowl has the lowest odds at 4/1. A Colts, Chiefs or Jets vs. Seahawks Super Bowl has 500/1 odds - sorry, Seattle.

Super Bowl XLV will take place on Feb. 6 at Cowboys Stadium.
